There really isn't a proper way to react after seeing Monika's body inside the glass case. Last week's discovery makes all of this feel devastating, and while Veronica can't claim to have known her very well... she did want her to live. It seems too cruel to kill someone who was already down.

But Monika is dead, so now it's time to deal with the living.

Veronica doesn't see where Sanji heads after the body announcement, so she has to track him down. Though the kitchen is ruined, she does check there first. If that's a miss, she searches for him throughout the castle until finally spotting him.

When she does, she makes sure to gently knock on the wall to announce her presence before calling out to him.]

... Sanji?

[At dinnertime, Veronica is going to slide a folded napkin at Evan shortly before exiting the dining hall. If he unfolds it, he'll find that she's written something on it:]

Meet me in the owlery when you're done eating.
- Veronica

[... This seems fine.]

[HEY, VARIAN. Here's to hoping he isn't too busy, because Veronica isn't bothering with pleasantries when she spots him sometime during Wednesday. She grabs him by the shoulders and (gently) starts steering him in direction of the western tower.]

You. Me. Owlery. There's something new we have to talk about.

[Everything's a mess and everyone needs some time to decompress, so Veronica doesn't go out looking for Monika immediately after Sandalphon is taken away. When she does, though, she lightly knocks on the wall to get her attention.]

Hey... [uh] Stupid question, but how are you feeling?

[everything has happened so much?? when veronica spots Belph, she sighs.]

I don't know if I should be happy that we learned something useful or... not.

[they had to watch a man kiss a corpse for it. it was not worth it.]

[Hey, Akechi. Veronica's not wasting a lot of time after that mess, so before it gets too late in the night, she's hunting him down.]

Found you. Now spill, hotshot.

[Hey, Varian. Sometime after the trial, Veronica's going to be pulling him somewhere secluded.]

I hate that we had to watch someone make out with a corpse to get the names of two of the special roles.

[Hey, Evan. Veronica's just... dragging a hand down her face when they stumble upon each other or something, looking wrung out.]

Hi. I hate this.

[This weekend is going to be fine. The most fine. Absolutely fine. Nothing wrong with this weekend at all. Gosh.

Anyway, Veronica's first words upon spotting Belph are just going to be:]

... I can't believe they killed him over any of the obvious asshole choices.

[What's up.]

[Well. This weekend promises to be even worse than usual.

Unfortunately for Rebecca, it doesn't seem like she's going to get any privacy after Natsuo's death is announced. Wherever she is, Veronica will more or less accidentally stumble upon her, looking appropriately startled upon seeing her crying.]

... I... [A beat.

And then she is wordlessly fishing a ridiculously large wad of napkins out of her pocket. This is fine.]

[Hey, Varian.

He got kind of lucky that Veronica didn't get a chance to pull him aside yesterday, with everyone tripping over themselves to help A Child and all, but she's coming for him late during Wednesday morning. Without any type of greeting or anything of the sort:]

One, what did you do yesterday? [HONESTLY.] And two: Did you wake up with anything, uh, weird on you?

["Weird" as in a random ass cut. Veronica's sporting one on the side of her neck, not particularly long or deep but still kind of painful looking.]

[Now that imminent death has passed and they've avoided keeling over in their sleep, Veronica will pull Magnus aside at some point during the morning or early afternoon. Everything from the investigation to the end of last night was kind of crazy, so...]

I don't know if you're busy, or— whatever. But if you have a minute, we should sit down and talk.

[Wherever the nicer, 25% concerning version of Ion may be during Monday afternoon — Veronica will be flagging him down once she spots him.]

Ion, how are you doing?

[... Since the answer tends to be "worn out" every time she sees him. Someone give the anime pope a break.]

[WHEREVER RAPUNZEL MAY BE, she'll suddenly find herself flagged down by Veronica.]

Hey, uh, Rapunzel. Do you have a minute?

[Veronica's legs feel like gelatin by this point.

Being relieved that you're alive is difficult when you can't help but to feel guilty. Ann is dead. Eichi had to drown her. Natsuo is in the stocks despite already being injured, and while she's happy that none of the partnerless died — that doesn't mean they're out of the frying pan and into the fire.

Still, she manages to huff out a laugh when she spots Varian after the execution.]

How does it feel to know you were wrong?

[She lived, binches.]

[She's dead on her feet after that trial, but she still has enough energy to wave Dazai over when she spots him around the castle.]

Today was really... a mess, huh?

[Wherever Sanji may be, Veronica will muster enough energy to nod in greeting at him when she spots him. She's so incredibly exhausted, but seeing as how this might be her last day here, well...]

That... Really just happened, huh?

[What a mess.]

[Once Akechi has risen from his angst coma, Veronica will be knocking on his door.]

... Akechi, it's Veronica. May I please come in?

[Veronica's so, so incredibly tired at this point. But she still manages to wave Belph over when she sees him, sighing.]

This is such a fucking mess.

[Evan will stumble across Veronica pretty easily. She's seated on the staircase leading up to the second floor, seemingly staring at some of the decorative tapestries in the foyer. When she notices Evan, she manages a small smile.]

... That mess really just happened, huh?
